FACE LIFT
What is it ?
Over time from sun exposure, stress and aging, deep wrinkles form on the skin of the face, most often around the mouth, chin, nose and eyes. The skin and subcutaneous structures lose elasticity and sag.
The purpose of a facelift is to lift the sagging tissues in the area of the cheeks, lower jaw, under the chin and upper neck, in which the patient's appearance becomes fresh and more youthful. After the operation, the patient acquires a younger appearance by about 10-15 years. However, lifting does not stop the aging process, but removes its visible signs. In addition, a facelift does not rejuvenate the skin around the eyes, forehead and mouth. Patients who want to improve these areas could combine the facelift with a forehead lift, blepharoplasty, fillers, botox.
What can be achieved with face lifting (facelift, rhytidectomy)?
A facelift rejuvenates the middle and lower part of the face. It is most effective for patients who wish to correct:
- Sagging mid face area
- Deep folds under the eyes
- Deep folds between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds)
- Sagging tissues in the area of the lower jaw and chin
- Accumulated fatty tissue in the area of the lower jaw and chin
Who is a good candidate for ear surgery?
- Women and men who wish to correct one or more of the above-described signs of age
- You must be healthy
- Have realistic ideas about the operation
- Being motivated for the operation, and not proceeding to it under someone else's influence
Usually the age limit is above 40 years, but in some cases, changes such as sagging facial skin can also occur in younger people, giving them a look that does not correspond to their years. In these cases, the procedure is also performed under the age of 40.

What is the operation?
The operation can be performed under local or general anesthesia. It is usually performed under general anesthesia in children. The intervention lasts no less than 2 hours. The surgical scar is located in the fold behind the ear and is not visible. Various techniques are used to retract the pinna to the head. Doctor Zayakova closes the incision with sutures, which the body dissolves. Regardless of the method that was applied, the dressing after the operation is quite bulky. If you were given local anesthesia, a stay in a health facility is not necessary. General anesthesia requires two hours of observation in the health care facility.
What to expect after the operation?
The very next day the drains are removed. After 48 hours, the head can be washed without any worries. The bandage is removed and an elastic band is put on you, which you should wear for at least 2-3 weeks. There may be swelling and bruising, a feeling of tension, stretching, which subsides in about 10-15 days. Usually, after such an intervention, patients experience numbness in the incision line. The restoration of sensitivity takes several months. The sutures are removed every 5-10 days. Camouflage cosmetics can be used.
A patient who has undergone such an operation can return to work after 10-15 days if he feels ready for it. Sports should be postponed for a month.
How long-lasting is the effect of otoplasty?
The results of this operation are not permanent. You can also wish for other procedures after 5 or 10 years. But on the other hand, the results are permanent: years later, your face will continue to look better than if you didn't have a facelift. Are there any risks?
All surgical interventions carry risk and plastic surgery is no exception. Serious complications are not common when the surgery is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon. Possible complications are: bleeding, infection, prolonged swelling, loss of sensation, etc. These risks are more likely for smokers. Dr. Zayakova will discuss the risks with you before the operation.
Revision surgery: It is performed after a complication or an unsatisfactory aesthetic result. The incisions are made along the old scars. Recovery is faster and easier.
