TUMMY PLASTIC

What is it ?

Abdominoplasty (abdominoplasty) is a procedure that aims to remove sagging skin and fatty tissue in the abdominal area, and at the same time to strengthen the rectus abdominis muscles, which gives a flat appearance to the abdominal wall. This procedure can be performed with or without displacement of the belly button. Sudden changes in weight, significant weight loss, and pregnancy usually lead to excess skin and fat in the lower abdomen.

Who is a suitable candidate for abdominoplasty?

  •  Women and men in good health
  •  Accumulated fat or excess skin in the lower abdomen
  •  Aged women and men whose abdominal skin is loose
  •  Women with loose abdominal muscles and skin after pregnancy
  •  We advise women who are planning a pregnancy, as well as those patients who consider losing weight, to postpone the abdominoplasty for a later stage.

 It is also very important:

  •  Be over 18 years old
  •  Have a stable weight
  •  Be healthy
  •  Being motivated for the operation, and not proceeding to it under someone else's influence
  •  Have realistic expectations for this surgery

Before undertaking such a procedure Dr. Zayakova will discuss with you absolutely all questions that concern you. The choice of method for removing excess skin and fat in the lower abdominal area is also carried out together with the specialist.

An informed consent This is a document that describes in detail the procedure, the possible risks and complications of it and anesthesia, financial relationships. You should carefully read what is written. If you have any questions, feel free to ask your plastic surgeon or anesthesiologist.

What is the operation?

The operation is performed under general anesthesia. Its duration is from 3 to 4 hours. The incision is made below the navel in the area hidden by the underwear. Skin and fat are lifted, and the navel is released (in cases where relocation is required). Strengthening of the rectus abdominis muscles is done. The new location of the navel is located. Excess skin and fat are removed. The navel is positioned. Drains are placed for 24 to 48 hours. Dr. Zayakova will close your incisions with sutures that are resorbable (the body dissolves them) and will not need to be removed. When the belly button is not moved, we talk about a mini abdominoplasty. Then the incision is made lower. You wake up with the elastic underwear necessary in the post-operative period. All the necessary medications-antibiotics and painkillers while you are with us will be given intravenously. The pains are not strong. A 48 to 72 hour hospital stay is required. Abdominoplasty can be combined with липосукция.

What to expect after the operation?

Each patient recovers in a different amount of time. The first 24-72 hours you will feel uncomfortable, you will have a feeling of tension in the abdomen, which is due to the swelling. At home, you will take the antibiotic and painkillers orally. You will need to visit the clinic again on the second day of your discharge, when you will be examined and bandages will be applied to allow you to bathe. Any postoperative pain, swelling, tension will gradually subside. You will wear the elastic underwear for 30 days. A patient who has undergone such an operation can return to work after 15-20 days if he feels ready for it. Sports, heavy lifting should be postponed for a month. The scars fade gradually over a period of 3 to 12 months, depending on the individual characteristics of your body.

Are there any risks?

All surgical interventions carry risk, and plastic surgery is no exception. Serious complications are not common when the surgery is done by a qualified plastic surgeon. Possible complications include: infection, hematoma, seroma, change in sensitivity, delayed healing, persistent pain, unsatisfactory aesthetic result, enlargement of scars, etc.

Revision surgery: It is performed after a complication or an unsatisfactory aesthetic result. The incisions are made along the old scars. Recovery is faster and easier.
